Our Story

When Chloe and Ella first met, the two of them instantly found common ground over the want to pen a story that centered positive representation of sapphic relationships. The film that they wanted to make was one that had the same sweet moments and sharp humor of the films they loved, but about people like themselves and their friends.

Through late-night writing sessions and combating schedules, Ella and Chloe developed the world of Hidden Violets - and once it was complete, they looked to creative peers whom they trusted and admired to help bring it to life.

Amelia    Prouse, Graphic Designer

"Film is a long ways to go in becoming a more inclusive industry. I've been on far too many sets as the only female-identifying member and it can become discouraging. But films like Hidden Violets are so important in elevating queer and femme creatives and I'm so excited to be a part of it!"

Zoey Marshall, 1st AD

"I have always wanted to write and be involved in queer projects. I had to say yes to being a part of this film because from the beginning of my questioning of my sexuality, it was always LGBTQ+ media that was central to helping me understand and accept myself. It is incredibly cool to be a part of team that is creating more stories my younger self would have really appreciated and I definitely couldn’t pass on that opportunity."

Ella Hicks, DP

"Chloe and I started out writing this film because we wanted to tell a story about queer joy. It's something that is so often neglected to be shown in media, but it remains incredibly important to depict. I absolutely love making films in every aspect of the process, and I'm honored to be working with such an amazing team already!"
